Story: The story for today was "Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes" by Eric Litwin. Pete the Cat has new white shoes. As he walks through the neighborhood, he steps in things that change the color of his shoes. Does Pete cry? Goodness no, because it's all good. I use this story to explain to children that when something goes wrong at school that the teachers are there to help them. It's okay to be upset, but teachers can help with any situation to make things better.
Writing Journal: The children colored a picture of a large pencil. This will be used as the cover of our Writing Journal. Are we expecting the children to write? No, but they will be drawing pictures and we will adding the children's words to the pictures through out the year. We are hoping that at some point, the children will start to add letters as they learn letter sounds. Some children will even want to print words.
Gross Motor: The children played the game "Four Corners". This game uses four colored cones as bases. As I count to 10, the children move around the cones and select one color to stand by. A color is chosen at random by me. Children sitting by that color must sit down for the next round and be the counters. The game continues until there is only one color left.
Snack: The snack for today was Teddy Grahams and milk.
I managed to take a few pictures today that I am sharing below. I think I missed a few children. Being it was the first day, I was a little busy 😊. I'll try again tomorrow!
