Group Meeting:  We have been saying the Pledge of Alligiance for a week now.  The children are starting to pick up the words and learn their left hand from their right.  We are starting to talk about the changes that we see in the season of Fall.  This week, we will start looking for leaves that are changing colors and falling from the trees.

Story:   The story for today was I Am a Leaf by Jean Marzollo.  This story follows the life of a leaf from Summer to Fall, Winter and Spring.  We learned that leaves make tree food.   We also learned that leaves are green in the summer due to the chlorophyll in the leaves.  In the fall, the chlorophyll goes away, and we see the many colors.  Ask your child to tell you what the trees look like in Winter.

Leaves are Falling:  At the art table, the children were given leaves that were cut from diffuser paper.  They sprayed the leaves with water and them dropped liquid watercolor on them.  Once dry, we will tape these on our windows for everyone to see tomorrow night!

Mat Man:  We reviewed Mat Man and drew him on paper.  I showed the children how they can change Mat Man to look like any person by adding more features.  They watched me change Mat Man into Mrs. Christiansen, Superman (Batman in the afternoon), and my dad.  The children drew their own pictures of Mat Man and added more features to create someone that they knew.  These will be on our bulletin board in the hallway.

Snack:  The snack for today was Teddy Grahams, juice, and water.

Tomorrow is Picture Day!
